Every piece starts in a workshop we have walked through ourselves — teak root pulled after the timber harvest, rattan split and bent by hand, clay thrown on a kick wheel. We buy in small batches and we say where it came from.

Small batches, cut to the grain.
Every piece starts as a stump, a bundle of rattan, or a lump of clay we carried out of a workshop ourselves. Nothing here is bought off a catalogue.

The root decides the shape. We only take away what the wood does not need. Workshop notes — Indonesia
A teak stump is not a blank sheet. It records rain, drought and soil, and it pushes back against any design louder than itself. Our job is to follow it: sand slowly, cut against the grain, and stop before the piece starts looking manufactured.
